Siân Morgan is celebrating after winning a silver and two bronze medals for Wales at the Common- wealth Youth Games in the Isle of Man.
The 17-year-old from Ilkley swam in three individual races and two relays and admitted afterwards “It was a fantastic way to conclude my junior swimming career.
“To have been on the podium three times was a dream come true. I have come home with three medals and the confidence I need to set my sights high as I move up into the senior ranks.”
After setting a personal best time of 8.41.03 in the 800m freestyle on the opening day to claim fourth position, Siân swam a storming leg of 56.19 in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay to help Wales to the bronze record in a new Welsh record time.
She followed up that perform- ance on day two by setting a huge personal best time of 4.09.71 in the 400m freestyle to claim another bronze medal.
In the process she broke the Yorkshire senior record of 4.10.58 that was set back in 2003.
Just a few minutes later, straight after her medal ceremony, Siân was back in the pool leading the Welsh team off in the 4 x 200m freestyle relay.
She gave the team an impressive start with a leading time of 1.59.79 as Wales finished second.
Again, the team set a new Welsh senior record, breaking the mark set in 2001 by over 22 seconds.
Siân set another personal best time of 1.59.67 in the 200m freestyle as he finished fifth, just 0.12 seconds of a second outside of the medal positions.
