ILKLEY Town have been brought back down to earth after losing 1-0 to the NCEL Division One basement side, Yorkshire Amateur on Saturday.
The Baht’atters has beaten league leaders, Horbury Town the previous weekend but couldn’t follow that up with another key victory in their bid for a play-off finish.
Saturday’s defeat has seen them slip out of the play-off spots to 6th as Wakefield AFC have taken 5th place for the time being.
The winner goal at Yorkshire Amateur arrived in the 72nd minute when Oliver Busfield swept in a cross first time to steer his side to a massive three points in their bid for survival.
Speaking after the contest, manager Sam Dexter cut a frustrated figure when he said: “I’m unsure what to make of that one really. I don’t think we were great, but I don’t think they were either; I certainly don’t think it was one for the neutral.
“We didn’t create many chances which I think is the most disappointing thing, and then they’ve taken their only chance of the second half.
“Sadly, after last week’s huge performance, we’re back to earth with a bump.”
He added: “We’re back at home next time around. Funnily enough, our away form has been better than our home form recently, so that’s something we need to improve on and get right moving forward.
“Consistency is key for us now, particularly in our performances.”
Ilkley return to action on Saturday when they welcome Louth Town for a 3:00 pm kick-off.
