AFTER a week off for both of Ben Rhydding’s first team sides, the club’s return to action brought mixed results.
The women entertained Leicester City and earned a well-deserved three points, as they cruised to a 3-0 victory.
The first quarter ended goalless but goals in each of the remaining quarters from Rafa Brandao Lee, Megan Roberts and a penalty stroke from Tiana Nhamoinesu sealed the result and moves Rhydding into 4th place in Division One North.
As for the men’s team, they endured a tougher contest against Brooklands Manchester University.
The visitors, Brooklands snatched the lead in the first minute and while Will Musgrave scored from the penalty spot after George Gamble was upended by the Brooklands goalkeeper, the visitors then scored again before the end of the first quarter.
Despite action at both ends and a flurry of green and yellow cards for both sides, there were no more goals and Rhydding went down 2-1 and remain in 8th place.
Both teams are at home again this weekend as the women entertain Gloucester City on Saturday at 1.30pm, while the men play local rivals, Doncaster, at 2pm on Sunday.
