IT was a disappointing weekend for Ben Rhydding Hockey Club as both the men and women’s first teams fell to heavy defeats at Durham University.
The women’s side lost 4-0 against a strong Durham University first team, while the men struggled against Durham University’s second team in a 4-1 defeat.
They were 3-0 down at half-time, before Will Musgrave pulled one back early in the second half. However, it was too little, too late.
Both the women and men’s sides were missing a key player. Jodie Bridger was playing for England Women’s Over 35s in Cape Town where she came away with a bronze medal.
And Tom Kendall was also in Cape Town playing for the England Men’s Over 35s where his last minute goal secured England the Gold Medal in the final over hosts South Africa 4-3.
