ILKLEY Town moved up to 6th in the NCEL Division One following a 3-1 victory at home to Appleby Frodingham on Saturday.
Strikes from James Nightingale, Jack Lane and Alfie Dean did the job for the hosts as they won their first league game in four matches.
The first came through an unlikely source, with Nightingale scoring his first competitive goal in six years, and what a strike it was.
He collected it from around 25-yards out before unleashing a powerful effort beyond the reach of Appleby's goalkeeper to give his side the lead.
In the 61st minute Lane doubled Ilkley's advantage, tapping in from close range to give the Baht'atters some breathing space.
However, Nathan Jarman struck a sweet volley to cut the deficit to just one goal for the away side, and it signalled the start of a late push for an equaliser from the visitors.
With Appleby throwing men forward, Ilkley broke to seal victory with the third goal coming from Dean with just one minute of normal time remaining.
Up next for Town's men's team is a trip to Armthorpe Welfare in the league on Saturday, and kick-off gets underway at 3:00 pm.
Last Sunday also represented an extremely historic day for Ilkley Town Women, who played their first ever fixture in Adobe Women's FA Cup.
The result wasn't to be, as the Baht'atters fell to a 3-0 defeat at home to Chesterfield Ladies FC, but the day was a great success.
There was a record number of people in attendance for a women's match at Ilkley, with 173 people there to watch this momentous occasion.
