ILKLEY Town are now two points outside of the play-offs in Division One of the Northern Counties East League.

They surprisingly only drew 2-2 at home to struggling Worsbrough Bridge Athletic on Saturday, but the result could have been a lot worse for Sam Dexter’s side.

The visitors were 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go, only for a quickfire double strike, courtesy of Luke Baldwin and Dan Smith, to salvage a point for Ilkley.

Having gone 1-0 down early on, Ilkley grew into the game, former Steeton ace Baldwin having a goal ruled out for offside and a shot hit the post in the first half.

Baldwin was denied twice by the visiting keeper in the first 15 minutes of the second half, before Worsbrough netted a second goal against the run of play.

Ilkley were then given a free kick when they were convinced they should have had a penalty, and when Josh Parker headed a golden chance wide late on, it felt as if it was not going to be their day.

But Baldwin halved the deficit when he fired Harry Brown’s cutback through a mass of bodies to score.

And with Ilkley banging down the door, their equaliser soon followed, as Smith produced a bullet header to score from Alfie Dean’s cross.

Worsbrough had a player sent off for a second bookable offence in stoppage-time, before Smith was denied at the near post, as Ilkley had to settle for a draw.
