THE annual Ilkley Cycle Races took place last Friday, just two days after near-neighbours Otley hosted their equivalent event.

And there was a real moment of redemption for Rob Scott, of Tekkerz CC, in the night’s marquee race.

He won the Lister Horsfall Open Grand Prix after holding off Cole Davis and Oliver Rees in a sprint finish.

That allowed him to retake the men’s national series lead back off Ribble Rebellion’s Matthew Bostock, who had pipped him to first place in Otley two nights earlier.

As for the Ilkley Cycling Club Women's Grand Prix, Millie Couzens produced a perfectly-timed attack in the latter half of the race to storm to victory.

The Fenix-Deceuninck rider crossed the line 43 seconds clear of second-placed Robyn Clay, who edged out Isabel Darvill into third in a sprint finish.

But it was still a good result for DAS Hutchinson Brother UK rider Clay, who remains top of the women’s national series.
