IT was a weekend of distribution for many of our local sports teams, with the majority of fixtures falling victim to the weather.
The freezing temperatures resulted in matches involving Guiseley, Otley Town and Ilkley Town being cancelled, with the rescheduled dates set to be announced in due course.
Likewise, with the rugby, it was a blank weekend but not because of the weather; instead, the schedule meant that no teams would play a fixture over the weekend.
If the playing conditions are deemed suitable this time around, Otley RUFC travel to Hull Ionians, Old Otliensians are set to host Richmondshire and Ilkley will take on Alnwick at home with all three fixtures taking place on Saturday afternoon.
Back to the ‘Big Freeze’ and football last weekend and, for Guiseley, it was their home game with Radcliffe that fell victim to the weather.
However, a new date has been given already following its postponement.
The meeting with the league leaders will now take place on Saturday 9 March in a 3pm kick-off at Nethermoor.
Ilkley Town’s highly anticipated local derby at home to Route One Rovers was the next postponement last weekend, in a game that had potential to shape up the play-off positioning in the league table.
As for Otley Town, they were set to visit Old Centralians.
This weekend, for Guiseley, it’s a trip to take on Whitby Town on Saturday. Ilkley travel to Runcorn Town whilst Otley don’t have a fixture this weekend.
Both Guiseley and Ilkley kick off at 3pm.
