A Strong display from Whitby Town at Nethermoor yesterday evening resulted in Guiseley falling to their first defeat of the campaign.
The visitors were in cruise control throughout the contest and would eventually go on to win the game 3-1, despite a late attempted fightback from the Lions.
Guiseley nearly took the lead in the first minute, after a corner was flicked on superbly at the front post, however, the away side managed to scramble the ball away from danger after the ball had dropped invitingly for a Guiseley man to poke home.
Whitby would soon take the lead, however, as Alfie Doherty's cross from the right was headed home into the top corner by Connor Simpson.
The Lions almost bounced back straight away, after a close-range header was deflected onto the crossbar by Dan Rowe before Shane Bland gathered.
The visitors finally doubled their advantage with three minutes of the first half remaining.
Failing to clear Alfie Doherty's cross into the box, Guiseley were eventually punished as Jacob Gratton slammed the ball home for his first competitive goal for the visitors.
After the interval Jameel Ible blazed over following a corner situation and that was as good as it got for the Lions prior to Whitby extending their lead.
On minute 54 the seasiders made it 3-0 through captain Daniel Rowe, who stayed up following a long throw-in routine and eventually prodded the ball home from close range.
Ten minutes later Guiseley did have something to cheer about, after Tom Denton hit a brilliant right footed strike into the back of Whitby’s net, but it was merely a consolation goal for the hosts.
Despite a late comeback drive, Guiseley couldn’t conjure up any more serious opportunities and ultimately, they were undone by a far superior Whitby side.
Up next for the Lions is a home fixture against Basford United on Saturday.
