FOUR weeks on from his sensational Berkshire Trophy victory, Ilkley Golf Club’s Max Berrisford is continuing to make waves on the fairway.
The Steeton-based golfer joined a list of previous star winners including Nick Faldo and Sandy Lyle after his triumph in June, and he’s joined an equally impressive list of names in July.
Berrisford was crowned Ilkley Golf Club’s new ‘Club Scratch’ champion on July 15 after returning in rounds of 69 and 66 to set a new low scoring record in the club's 133-year history, despite the tricky conditions.
Golfing legend Colin Montgomerie, OBE is just one of the names to grace the ‘Club Scratch’ leaderboard at Ilkley Golf Club after he triumphed in 1983.
Berrisford also finished 2nd at the English Men’s U25 Amateur Championship on Friday.
While he didn't have the best start with two bogeys, the Ilkley star bounced back brilliantly with five birdies to take the clubhouse lead at -5.
