ILKLEY’S Harry Maslen secured silver in the Heptathlon at the UK Athletics Indoor Championships in Birmingham at the weekend (Feb 25/26).
Maslen, 26, who was coached by Shirley Wood as a Junior Ilkley Harrier and is now coached by Sam Stanislaus, was lying sixth after Day One of the competition.
It followed a 60m of 7.18s, long jump of 6.84m, shot put of 12.45m and a high jump of 1.87m.
On Day Two, a personal best (PB) of 8.24s in hurdles followed by a massive PB in pole vault of 4.74m and a 1,000m of 2:49.51, took him into silver position. His overall score was 5440 points.
It is the second medal this season for Maslen, who won Heptathlon bronze in the English Indoor Championships in January.
