ILKLEY Lawn Tennis & Squash Club member Andy Hutchinson has bagged another title.
The former Yorkshire county player won the men’s 55 and over singles crown at the Scottish Open Tennis Championships in Glasgow.
Hutchinson, 58, from Bradley, was seeded second and won the event by dropping only one set, and that was in the final.
First up was fellow Ilkley member Roger Kuhlmann, who was despatched 6-1, 6-2, and then came fellow Briton James A Wood, who was defeated 6-3, 6-3.
Hutchinson beat Germany’s Joerg Pfuhl 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in the quarter-finals and fifth seed Mark Tomlinson (Great Britain) 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-finals to earn the right to face seventh seed Paul Clutton.
Hutchinson won the first set 6-2, but fellow Briton Clutton forced a deciding super tie-break by winning the second set 6-3, Hutchinson then prevailing 10-7.uHretired
Hutchinson is currently ranked 55 in the world in his age group.
