ILKLEY Town got off to the perfect start with a resounding 3-0 win over Darwen FC.
Just before half time, 18-year-old Jack Lane opened the scoring. Alfie Heaton’s cross reached Lane, who made no mistake as he found the bottom corner with a powerful strike.
The Baht’atters lead was doubled in the 75th minute, courtesy of a calm finish by Tom Smith.
Within two minutes, substitute Shaban Mehmeti added a third. He received Nathan Hunt’s through ball near the centre circle and beat two Darwen defenders for pace. As he entered the box, he twisted inside with a stepover, and his attempt nestled in the corner.
