TWO Ilkley Harriers produced fantastic performances racing for Wales in the Commonwealth Games.
Dominic Coy took part in the Men’s Individual Triathlon and the Mixed Team Relay in Birmingham, competing against the likes of Olympic gold medallist Alex Yee.
In the latter event, he was part of the team who claimed a well-deserved silver medal.
Coy did brilliantly to bridge the gap on the bike and then stayed strong on the run to put Wales in with a chance of a medal. Non Stanford went on to outsprint her Australian rival to seal the silver.
The 20-year-old came home in 18th place in the Men’s Individual Triathlon in 53:23, just under three minutes behind the eventual winner.
Harrier Rhys Jones had the honour of taking part in the PTVI triathlon.
With a time of 1:06:02, Jones finished fourth, only a few minutes behind para triathlon reigning world champion Dave Ellis.
