A HECTIC week for Ilkley Harriers saw them compete over a range of distances and terrain, both close to home and further afield.
Last weekend's big race was the Ennerdale Horseshoe, round one of the 2021 FRA English Championships.
And in a stacked men's field, an elite Harriers contingent were led home by Tom Adams in fourth place.
The hugely challenging 22.5-mile test in the Lakes featured nearly 7,000 feet of climbing and was won in a time of 3:32:16 by Billy Cartwright of Matlock Athletic Club.
Adams was just seven minutes behind as he got his Championships campaign off to a bright start.
Nathan Edmondson (36th in 4:04:02) and Ben Sheppard (99th in 4:47:09) made the top 100.
And in the ladies standings, Kate Archer and Alison Weston both notched third places in their respective age categories (W40 and W55).
Elsewhere there was an Ilkley win to celebrate - and an emphatic one - as Dan Dry landed the Lothersdale Fell race.
The 5.8km out-and-back race was run in a time trial format with a staggered start this year, and Dry stopped the clock in 22.17, well ahead of Wharfedale's Ethan Hassell, who was runner up in 24.10.
And going close to a victory of their own were both Sally Armitage and Dan McKeown at the Burton Leonard 10k on Sunday.
A hilly, multi-terrain village event that featured a stream and stile crossing and two very long uphills in the last two miles, all of which were made more testing by the blazing hot weather.
But the Harriers duo were to the fore throughout, McKeown clocking an impressive 37:44 for fourth place, just over a minute behind winner Andrew Grant of Harrogate Harriers.
And Armitage went two better as she was the second lady home with a time of 42:10.
The weekend also saw the return of the Bradford Millennium Way Relay.
It took in Wilsden, Denholme, Oxenhope, Haworth, Oakworth, Steeton, Silsden, Addingham and Ilkley, with two runners on each leg.
The Harriers were 17th overall out of the 65 teams who took part.
Jon Denniss and Gavin Lamb got them off to a great start with a top-10 placing on the first leg. The good work was continued right through to the finish by Rachel Carter and Forrest Hamilton, Jill Ezard and Nicky Liptrot, Laura Dixon and Fay Walsh and then Mike Abrams-Cohen and Nick Helliwell on the last leg back to Bingley. Also faring well on tracks and trails over the weekend were Mark Judkowski, who bagged the first M60 prize, and Jayne Norman at te 23-mile Settle Saunter, Michael Ho in the Summer Extravaganza Leeds-Liverpool Canal Marathon and Craig Berry at the Grimsthorpe Gallop 10-miler, set in the beautiful grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle near Bourne.
Switching to swim-bike-run, and Ilkley's Rhys Jones continued his fine form with a ninth-place finish at the World Triathlon Para Cup in Besancon, which gave him valuable world ranking points and put him well on the way to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham next year.
