A LATE free kick dented Guiseley's hopes of recording back-to-back wins as they were beaten 3-1 at home to fellow Vanarama National League North strugglers Brackley Town.
Ethan Coleman netted the 89th minute set piece before man of the match Wes York ended matters in stoppage time.
Kevin Wilkin’s side had not won in five games prior to this encounter, including a narrow loss to League Two side Tranmere Rovers in the Emirates FA Cup second round.
The visitors had the opening chance, a long punt up the pitch from goalkeeper Danny Lewis was fired over by James Armson.
A nice pass from Andy Kellett was then stabbed wide by Lions forward Jonathan Wafula.
On the 20-minute mark, Andrai Jones' header was met with a Lewis stop, despite the flick on from Kellett.
Brackley came within inches of breaking the deadlock when a deflected strike from Shane Byrne bobbled wide.
The resulting corner from Byrne landed on the head of Coleman who forced an acrobatic save from the reliable Brad Wade.
Guiseley were next to flirt with goal, Kellett's cross was volleyed into the side netting by Lebrun Mbeka.
The hosts were forced into a change, the busy Kellett picked up a knock and was swapped for Gabriel Johnson.
Wade was immediately forced into action post half time, stopping York's effort with his legs and Lee Ndlovu was unable to convert the rebound.
Heading into the final 25 minutes, Guiseley finally found the opener. A lofted cross from George Cantrill was poorly headed away by the Saints defence, allowing Mbeka to launch a powerful volley into the roof of the net.
However, the home side was pegged back almost straight away. A long clearance found Ndlovu on the counter attack, who played an enticing low cross to the edge of the box where Byrne placed past Wade.
A hopeful ball from Nathan Newall was headed on by Johnson, but Wafula’s low effort was comfortably held by Lewis.
Brackley took control in the closing stages of the game. 25 yards out, Coleman blasted the ball through the Guiseley wall and into the far corner, leaving a blinded Wade no chance.
Despite the shouts from Wilkin for his side to hold the ball in the corner, York pounced onto a loose ball and raced through on goal, before dispatching past Wade and piling on the misery for Guiseley.
Joint-manager Russ O’Neill said: “(I am) Massively disappointed. I thought we started the first half really well and we were the better team in all honesty.
"The difference between the Spennymoor fixture (which they won 2-0 last Tuesday) is we didn’t get the goal in the first half that we deserved.
“Second half we came out, they changed a little bit of their shape and personnel, and we were on the back foot.
"But we stuck in there for 70 minutes and got the goal that’s given us a massive lift.
"From that point then we should never get beat and we have done, so that’s the big disappointment for me.”
Next up for the 21st-placed team is a midweek trip to a side who is only one point above them, Chorley.
