TEENAGE striker Adam Haw came off the bench to grab Guiseley a precious point at Kettering Town last night in the National League North, but it could have been so much more.
The 18-year-old, who replaced injured youngster Kian Harratt late in the first half, slotted home with 20 minutes left to equalise, cancelling out Connor Kennedy's 34th minute strike.
And Haw won a penalty when he was brought down by Gary Stohrer with five minutes left. But Lebrun Mbeka saw his spot-kick saved by Adam Collin.
Guiseley keeper Brad Wade had to be on top form late on too, making a couple of good saves to ensure the hosts didn't come away with the three points.
The 1-1 draw means Kettering stay bottom, while the Lions move up two places to 19th.
Guiseley's joint-manager, Marcus Bignot, said: "It was an 18-year-old replacing another 18-year-old when Adam came on for Kian.
"Adam impressed us in pre-season but we sent him out on loan to Emley to get him some games, because we had Jonathan Wafula, Kaine Felix and Matty Gillam ahead of him in the pecking order.
"But all three of them are injured at the moment, though they should be back soon, so Adam gained that chance to get into the 16 (matchday squad). We felt he could make an impact and he has."
Discussing last night's game as a whole, Bignot said: "We conceded against the run of play in the first half. We'd played well and didn't deserve to be behind.
"It's all about how you respond to setbacks. We were a goal down and suffered two injuries (to Harratt and Isaac Currie) during the game. That can knock you but not with this group.
"Adam was a big reason behind us coming back but we had a performance from the whole team and we were disappointed not to get all three points in the end.
"Lebrun will be disappointed to miss from the spot, but it was a good penalty save from their keeper. We had other occasions to score again too.
"We'll learn from the whole experience of the game and it puts us in a better position for when we're in this situation again.
"I think the draw makes us 13 games unbeaten away from home too, so continues what is a fantastic run."
Bignot admitted he was pleased with his side's efforts against Kettering and leaders Gloucester City (a narrow 2-1 defeat) in their last two games, and they will need to be on top form again on Saturday to take anything from their trip to high-flying AFC Telford United.
He said: "I know their manager Gavin (Cowan) well, as he played under me at Solihull Moors.
"He's a good, young manager and a real student of the game.
"They're a good benchmark for teams as they're always going to be in and around the play-offs, but they've got a few injuries like us.
"Each game is a different challenge but really it's all about us. Darlington wasn't us last midweek and neither was Boston United in the game before that.
"But we're getting back to it now, and the fans have seen that with our last two performances."
