BEN Rhydding’s last home game of the season saw them draw 4-4 to relegation threatened Whitley Bay.
Rhydding started well and came close to scoring when George Gamble narrowly missed, but it was Whitley Bay who took the lead, scoring from a turnover.
After Max Helme narrowly missed, Rhydding kept the pressure on and Will Musgrave scored a scorcher of a goal into the roof of the net to level at 1-1.
Musgrave struck again, latching onto a great ball in from skipper Rob Ramsden to make it 2-1 with five minutes gone.
Whitley Bay came back quickly, scoring from a corner to level at 2-2. Rhydding continued to create but it wasn’t until the stroke of the half-time that they converted a corner, with Musgrave roofing the ball for his hat-trick into the net.
Rhydding were on a roll and Will Jones hit a strong line ball for Charlie Smith. He set up Helme, whose finish took the lead to 4-2.
But Rhydding’s lost concentration and a scramble in the circle allowed Whitley Bay to score.
Rhydding then received a yellow card and with just minutes on the clock, and Bay scored from the breakdown of corner to make it 4-4.
* Ben Rhydding Ladies lost 1-0 to Durham on Saturday and thanks to goals by Amy Cordukes, Kelly Baxter and Rachel Doherty they ran out 3-0 winners to Stourport at home on Sunday.
