DESPERATE for a win to revive their season, Yarnbury were condemned to a fifth loss on the trot after being edged out 29-22 at home to North Ribblesdale.
The result means Ribb move ahead of the Settle based club into tenth position in Yorkshire Two.
The hosts started with a youthful pack and welcomed back James Falgate and Charles Lang, while speedy full back Jack Brown was ill so Josh Bateson took the role allowing Tom Bowman to continue on the right wing.
From the kick off Yarnbury put themselves under pressure when back row Tom Goldthorpe dropped the kick and from successive rolling mauls the visitors trundled over after successive pick and go's.Carl Patterson added the conversion.
The home side then showed the danger of quick hands cutting the Ribblesdale defence for winger Josh Bell to score comfortably in the corner.
Yarnbury took the lead with a typical speedy attack from deep by full back Bateson weaving through the Ribblesdale defence on to the try line and leaving the supporting Bell to achieve his brace of tries.
Ribblesdale were soon back in front even with a man short centre Ryan Summer penalised for a late tackle on Goldthorpe.
The away side scored from another rolling maul despite stout Yarnbury defence.they controlled the pick and go's for prop John Padley to make the try line. Ribbs wing forward Will Booth touched down for the other try.
Ribblesdale still had enough time before the break to get down the field when Yarnbury could not again stop the rolling maul from the line out veteran prop John Twaite getting over the line to create a seven point advantage at half-time.
The second half like last week at Roundhegians turned in to a midfield arm wrestle which the Horsforth team could not dominate and although they got in to good attacking positions were constantly let down loosing successive line outs in good field positions.
When the chances fell to the home side they constantly lost the momentum at the line outs as they could not secure enough ball.
However, wing forward Charles Lang managed to get over the line near the posts from broken play, despite three opposition forwards closing him down to capture the two bonus points awarded after a close loss.
Their opponents responded though to score a fifth try. John Padley going over.
