CLOSE finishes were the order of the day in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Championship Division One, and the battle between the top two didn't disappoint.
Second-placed hosts Wrenthorpe made 211 against leaders Undercliffe, with opener Jordan Sleightholme hitting 46 of his 64 in boundaries and Mehran Ibrahim making 60 as Craig Wiseman took 4-60 and Khalid Usman a miserly 3-46 in his 15 overs.
The visitors, who led by two points going into the match, were 71-7 in reply but were seen over the line by Usman (77no) and last man Wiseman (4no) in a partnership of 23 after Zeeshan Qasim had hit a telling 74 off 67 balls, including seven fours and six sixes.
Jonathan Rudge (5-66) and Awais Ejaz (3-54) had introduced the early tremors into the Intake Road club's innings.
Another one-wicket win came at Ossett, who made 156 (James van der Merwe 44) as Shanz Peiris Prangige (4-14) and James Lee (3-43) got to work.
No-one bettered 26 in the reply, but Hisan Ahmed (26) and Jordan Tailford (26no) did reach that mark, only for No 11 Andy Stothart to score all the six runs required by the final pair as Bankfoot sneaked it.
It was also close at Hartshead Moor, where Batley totalled 167-8 and were indebted to No 8 Roheil Hussain (59no), who added 64 unbroken with Tariq Hussain (19no) after Josh Tingle (3-25) and Dan Squire (2-28) had outshone Iain Wardlaw (3-60).
Moor replied with 163 after Craig Field (43) and Mohammed Khan (40) had laid the platform for victory, only for two run outs, including Khan, to stymie them as they collapsed from 140-5 as Musa Ahmed (3-10) and Naveed Zamurad (3-36) cashed in.
If it was runs you were after, look no further than the Britannia Ground, where Pudsey Congs made 315-7, with Jonathan Donnelly (73 off 52 balls), Barney Gibson (63 off 66 balls) and Mustafa Rafique (63 not out off 56 balls) adding the urgency.
Chris Rhodes took 4-77 for visitors Gomersal, who made a good fist of their reply by scoring 305-9 in the battle of fourth and fifth, with Micky Hutchins (67), Jack Seddon (63 off 29 balls, including five fours and five sixes) and Richard Wear (62 to go with his two run-outs and a catch) also enjoying the Intake Road wicket.
Nathan Bromby (5-15) took the first five wickets to fall and skipper Ollie Halliday (3-22) mopped up the tail as Yeadon were dismissed for 127, with Damon Gormley (48no) overseeing the recovery from 10-5.
Third-placed Morley won by six wickets, with opener Sangeeth Cooray in belligerent mood with 81 not out – an innings which contained 14 fours and a six.
Baildon skipper Jack Hainsworth made 111 at almost a run a ball as they beat Hunslet Nelson by 94 runs.
Hainsworth cracked 14 fours and a six but lacked support after Hamzah Iqbal (35) and Blair Oakley (21) went, with the innings collapsing from 151-3 to 217 as Pat Hinchliffe (3-24) and Alex Rose (5-24) put the brakes on.
However, on a day when captain Will Stiff (33) also led the way for the visitors, Hunslet Nelson were castled for 123, with Ijaz Ahmed taking 4-54 and Oakley 3-41.
