Harry Maslen defended his under-17 title impressively in the Yorkshire Combined Events Championships at Leeds Carnegie over the weekend.

The Ilkley Harriers starlet won five events outright as he took the gold medal.

He won the 100m hurdles in 14.02, long jump with 6.24m, shot with 12.28m, high jump with 1.87m, and javelin with a throw of 48m.16.

Maslen also had two second places in the 400 and 1,500 metres.

In the 400m he recorded a time of 53.17 and clocked 5mins.01.58 for the ,500m.

The discus proved to be the weakest of his event where he came sixth with with 24.86m.

He improved in all eight of the events from the previous year.

The talented all rounder notched up five personal bests and narrowly missed breaking the championship points record.

Only a disappointing sixth place in the discus prevented him from doing this. His final points total was 4,897.
