Wharfedale 15 Otley 40
Otley moved into jhe second-rouund of the Centurion Yorkshire Cup with victory in an enteraining tie at Wharfedale last night.
The Cross Greeners rested seven first team regulars while Wharfedale fielded their highly-successful Foresters team.
The first half was closely fought with the home side throwing the ball around as they produced some enterprising rugby.
The closeness of the contest in the opening half was reflected in the half-time score of 15-15.
The Foresters produced some thrilling moments and their positive approach brought tries for Will Bell and James Druce. Former Aireborough player Druce also added a penalty and a conversion.
After the break, Otley took charge and scored 25 unanswered points as they ultimately ran out comfortable winners.
Otley scored seven tries through Ollie Ciognini (2), James Twomey, Tom Barnes, Kirk Arundale, Ben Cooper and Jonathan Stannard. Ben Cooper added a penalty and a conversion.
Otley will be at home to Malton & Norton in the second round.
