SIR - I think the Department of Transport should seriously consider making Bradford the national driving test centre for the UK.
By honing your driving skills in Bradford, I feel you would be best qualified to drive in any UK city and remain accident free. It would be the perfect place to learn the art of defensive driving and if you can avoid an accident on these streets you have a very good chance of retaining a no claims bonus on your insurance.
The standards (or lack of) driving here never cease to amaze me and I'm sure that a large proportion of responsible drivers in Bradford feel the same. We learn to expect the worst in order to avoid accidents and we are all coming to terms with the revised meanings regarding the highway code.
A green or amber light means go and a red light means go faster! Give way signs are an option, roundabouts have no rules and speed bumps are stunt ramps. Zebra crossings are to warn pedestrians that they may be run over if not careful and as for Pelican crossings, see traffic lights!
