Danny Jones shared how his band McFly got its name, despite him originally “hating it”.

The I’m A Celebrity star sat down with his fellow campmates in tonight’s episode (December 4) and discussed their childhoods.

Jones explained how he would walk around with a plastic guitar at the age of three and would even take it to bed, instead of a teddy bear like most young children would.

He admitted he “found my love for music pretty early on”. He added that his mum would really encourage him and believed in him from the start.

His fellow bandmates, including Tom Fletcher, came to him with the name McFly, suggesting it should be their band name but when he wasn’t keen, Jones needed some convincing.

How did McFly get their name?

Jones explained that his bandmates asked him to watch Back to the Future which he’d never seen before.

He said: “We were trying to come up with a name. We had a few in the pipeline and McFly was one of them.

“I hated it. So James and Tom sat me down to watch Back to the Future and I was like ‘I’ve never seen it’ and as I’m watching it, Biff crashes into the manure truck and I saw it said on the side ‘D. Jones Manure Manufacturing’.

“And I was like ‘McFly it is’.”
