ST JOHN’S CHURCH: In line with the St John’s campaign to help others, this year’s harvest celebrations on the weekend of October 4-6 with services on the Sunday at 8am, 10am and 6pm, will see donated non-perishable goods go to the Trussell Trust foodbank in Bradford and financial donations towards projects run by the Church Urban Fund Project. Meanwhile Christian Aid is collecting old mobiles and ink cartridges (not Epson) for recycling, with profits helping the global fight against poverty. Freepost envelopes are available at the back of church. Beginning to think of Christmas presents? The new Traidcraft catalogue is now available for your planning of cards and gifts. And if you want to help your parish church, the plans for a new heating system need your involvement. Watch out for St John’s on stjohnmenston.org.uk. Services on Sunday are at 8am for holy communion and 10am for parish eucharist.
