ROTARY CLUB: Brian Hendlesby, chief operations officer, accompanied by Dylan and James, last week gave members an inspiring account about the funding, setting up and running of the impressive unit at Horizon Life Training, Kennel Hall Farm, Harrogate. This takes individuals who have found freedom from drug and alcohol addictions on to the next step of being restored into the community by giving them valuable work experience and qualifications. Skills available include landscaping, farming, catering, welding and joinery. A visit by members, possibly including a Christmas meal, will provide a useful follow-up. The club’s thanks were given by David Farnell. BRIDGE CLUB: On Tuesday, September 17, seven tables played 28 boards, N/S: 1st Mr Brown & Mr Thompson, 2nd Mr Eaton & Mrs Scherson; E/W: 1st Mrs Bent & Mrs Weston, 2nd Mrs Humphreys & Mrs Savile.
