Shark-infested custard and hungry wasps were among the challenges faced by new Ilkley Grammar School pupils at a team building event.
Year Seven pupils have been taking part in team building days at the Nell Bank Outdoor Education Centre, Denton Road, helping them learn to work together with their new classmates.
Pupils were required to take part in a variety of paired and team challenges that tested their physical agility and personal learning and thinking skills to the limits.
Activities, some of which were completed blindfolded, included navigating their way around the Nell Bank obstacle course with a chicken, tray of water and a loaf of bread, crossing rivers of shark-infested custard, orienteering in Middleton Woods and skiing down precipitous slopes on wooden planks while balancing balls.
All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience, despite the additional challenge posed by the many wasps trying to share their lunches, and are now looking forward to transfer some of their new skills with their new friends back in the classroom.
