Sherburn White Rose 1 Otley Town 4
With the minimum of fuss Otley Town overcame fellow West Yorkshire Premier side Sherburn to move smoothly into the quarter finals of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.
This was a clash of different styles on a difficult sticky surface.
Sherburn packed their midfield and played on the break using the long ball whereas Otley built from the back and played more of a passing game.
After dominating possession for the opening 20 minutes Otley’s opener came when Chris Davey scored with a quality header from Tom Chadwick’s terrific left wing cross.
Fifteen minutes later Davey repeated the dose with Town’s second – another header this time from a precise right wing cross from Sam Dexter.
Otley killed the game in the opening minute of the second half when Luke Danskin scored direct from a corner on the left.
There was just one moment of concern for Otley when for ten minutes they took the foot off the gas and Sherburn rallied.
This culminated in a goal for the home side in the 65th minute when Jim Jollands volleyed home.
Unperturbed Otley sealed their win 10 minutes later when substitutes Rob Hillas and Andy Crowther combined for Crowther to score.
In a very accomplished team performance outstanding for Town were Jamie Simms, Jimmy Davey, Tom Chadwick and Josh Waite.
Town now play Alwoodley at home this Saturday in the quarter finals. Kick-off is at 1pm.
