A 55-year-old man who admitted indecently exposing himself to schoolgirls in Ilkley had his case postponed yesterday after it was revealed police could charge him with perverting the course of justice.
Paul Burke, of St Mary’s Walk, Harrogate, pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to exposing himself to girls aged 14 and 15 on the same day in February this year, and was due to be sentenced yesterday.
Prosecutor Paul Nicholson told Bradford Crown Court Burke’s wife had been cautioned in respect of perverting the course of justice.
He said the defendant ought to be interviewed and there was a possibility he would be charged with the offence.
Judge James Goss QC said there was no good excuse for the delay but he was prepared to adjourn sentencing.
The case was adjourned until January 11. Burke was granted conditional bail.
