ILKLEY'S most isolated residents will enjoy a special Christmas treat this year thanks to a seasonal gift from a popular high street restaurant.
French-inspired Bistrot Pierre, in Brook Street, Ilkley, is joining forces with local charity Ilkley and District Good Neighbours to donate festive meals to those in need this winter.
As part of the restaurant’s Pay It Forward campaign, diners enjoying a Christmas party of eight or more with friends and family will trigger a free three-course meal for a deserving resident nominated by the local charity, which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year.
Lucy Steer, of Ilkley and District Good Neighbours, said: “We are thrilled to be the nominated partner to receive support from Ilkley Bistrot Pierre again this year.
“The winter months can be extremely challenging for some of our clients, with some of their social groups closing for the season and having very little interaction.
“Having the joy of a wonderful meal, company with friends and meeting new people is a great light at the end of the tunnel for many and a highlight in their calendar. We look forward to enjoying a wonderful day at Bistrot Pierre in January 2025.”
Ilkley and District Good Neighbours operates a range of social and practical schemes to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in the area by helping with shopping, befriending, social activities and trips.
Its belief in the power of community is strong, with volunteers providing free services to older, disabled and vulnerable people in Ilkley, Addingham and Burley-in-Wharfedale, to relieving isolation and promoting general wellbeing.
Bistrot Pierre’s CEO Nick White added: “As we celebrate our 30th birthday this year, community continues to be at the heart of what we do and as so many families face ongoing struggles with the cost-of-living this Christmas, we are opening our doors to welcome those most in need.
“Our loyal customers can make a difference to the lives of vulnerable residents in Ilkley and surrounding areas by booking a table for eight of more people on Sundays during December.
“We are now taking bookings, so why not come and have some festive fun with us safe in the knowledge that it will be giving other residents a chance to enjoy their own party?
“We’re hugely grateful for the fantastic work which continues to be done by Ilkley and District Good Neighbours each year and in teaming up with them, we hope everyone can have a very happy and healthy Christmas this year.”
