OTLEY city and town councillors have negotiated an agreement with Leeds City Council to drop car parking charges in the town on Saturdays in the run up to Christmas.
"This is great news for both shoppers and traders", said Otley Town Councillor Paul Carter. "We have been working with a number of groups to make Christmas in Otley special this year and this is just one of the many things which will make the town a great place to visit."
"This is a major help for residents wanting to do their Christmas shopping in Otley," added Councillor Colin Campbell, who is a Leeds City Councillor for Otley and Yeadon ward and a town councillor for Prince Henry's Ward.
"Currently things are difficult for many people and being able to shop locally will help both residents and shop keepers."
Car parks charges are suspended on Saturdays throughout December.
