PRINCE Henry’s Grammar School in Otley is outstanding in all areas, following their recent Ofsted visit.
The school, which is one of the founding partners of the Collaborative Learning Trust, received five ‘Outstanding’ judgements from inspectors, including for the Sixth Form provision.
The report has many highlights, which include ‘pupils and staff are proud to be part of this exceptional community. Staff have high expectations of everyone. Pupils are resilient and hard working. The school provides high-quality academic and pastoral support for all. Because staff are supportive, caring and passionate, pupils thrive. Students (in the Sixth Form) are encouraged to be independent and ambitious. The school positively shapes young people’s lives and inspires them for future success’.
Headteacher Sally Bishop said: “To hear the many accolades was moving. To have our values of honesty, kindness, confidence, independence, ambition and resilience quoted back at us in spades was amazing in describing our whole community. To hear that we have ‘phenomenal staff and practices which are worthy of sharing with other schools’ was humbling. However, we are not complacent, we will continue to make our school even better.”
With such positive endorsements about the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and the sixth form, Prince Henry’s is joining a very elite group of schools who share similar ratification.
Inspectors added: “What the school offers pupils outside of the academic and vocational curriculum is remarkable in its breadth and ambition. The school is accredited locally and nationally for its work on equalities, the environment, in sports and in the arts. The school has a skilled and committed staff body. Parents and carers praise the care and attention given to pupils at the school and students in the sixth form.”
CEO of the Collaborative Learning Trust, Janet Sheriff added: “The 'Outstanding' judgements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our leaders, staff, and incredible students. I am immensely proud that inspectors have acknowledged the exceptional quality of education and provision at Prince Henry's."
Sixth Form applications are open for September 2025, students from across the area can apply now at www.princehenrys.co.uk
