Decisions on a number of planning applications were made in the week beginning Monday, November 18.

On Monday, November 18, the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council granted planning permission for an extension to the clubhouse at South Bradford Golf Club, on Pearson Road.

The extension is to provide an all-weather golf simulator room and a new disabled access ramp.

The council's grant of planning permission included three conditions: that the development not begin later than three years from the date of the notice (in accordance with Section 91 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1990 (as amended)); that the development be carried out in accordance with three approved plans; and that "the use of appropriate materials" is ensured "in the interests of visual amenity and to accord with Policies DS1 and DS3 of the Core Strategy Development Plan Document."

Also on Monday, planning permission was granted for the creation of a bin storage area, including installation of hardstanding, fence, and soakaway, at East Riddlesden Hall.

Timber panelling, with a dark brown stained finish, is to be used for the new storage area at the National Trust property.

Permission was refused on Monday for a "non-illuminated wall mounted poster display" at the commercial premises of 228 High Street, Wibsey.

The reason was given as follows, in the associated council document: "The proposed advertisement, by reason of its excessively large scale and prominent siting on a highly visible elevation in an urban centre, would obscure the high quality built form and result in significant harm to the visual amenity of the site and wider street scene.

"In the absence of information to indicate otherwise, the proposal would appear discordant and harmful to the character of the surrounding area contrary to policies DS1 and DS3 of the Core Strategy Development Plan Document and Paragraph 141 of the National Planning Policy Framework."

The proposed display was to have been situated on the side elevation of the premises and to have measured 3.4m in height by 6.1m in width, and to have been elevated 2.6m from the ground.

Permission was granted on Monday for the removal of existing cricket practice nets at Steeton Cricket Club, and for replacement of these with "new, updated version[s]."
