A LOCAL author is holding an event to launch her new book - Gugglewump: A day in the life of an archaeologist.
Written by Sophie Jones-Tinsley, who grew up in Yeadon and Guiseley and went to school in Otley, the illustrated children's book focuses on a gender-neutral, multi-coloured creature exploring a potential career whilst learning key vocabulary and skills along the way. The first in the series focuses on a day in the life of an archaeologist.
Sophie said: "The goal is to broaden children's understanding of the world of work, promote gender neutrality in career choices, and enrich their vocabulary via a vocabulary list at the back of each book. Through engaging rhyming couplets and vibrant illustrations, the book offers children a fun and educational look into careers they might not typically encounter. Gugglewump is the educator of possibility."
The book is aimed at children aged seven-11 (in terms of readability) but would be suitable for children aged four-11, due to the colourful illustrations and interesting story.
On Saturday, November 23rd at Shipley Library (2 Wellcroft, Shipley, BD18 3QH) Sophie will be having a book launch. Between 10am and 11am you can join her for a book reading, Gugglewump activities and a chance to buy a signed copy.
Call or email the library to book on 01274 437150 or email: shipley.library@bradford.gov.uk
