HARROGATE Theatre Choir recently showcased their talents in their 'Sound of Musicals' concert at Otley Courthouse, which was a resounding sell-out success.

Andrew Forsyth, the Chair of Harrogate Theatre Choir, was delighted by the appreciative audience, which allowed the choir to make a donation of £200 to Otley Community Larder from the proceeds of the concert. This was in addition to a bucket collection at the concert which raised over £100 from the incredibly generous audience.

Otley Community Larder is a key initiative of Otley 2030 and aims to reduce food waste by collecting surplus food from local retailers.

Volunteers collect surplus food from supermarkets, local producers and food shops and bring it back to the larder. Collection points are in Otley, Yeadon, Menston , Bramhope and Rawdon.

The food is then available to everyone or anyone, on a pay as you feel basis. The larder shares a building with with Otley Social Club at Hollin Gate, LS21 2DP and is open on Tuesdays 2.30pm-5.30pm, Thursdays 6.30pm-7.30pm and Saturdays 10.30am-1.30pm.

Jade Harris, the coordinator of the Larder, expressed her gratitude for the choir's donation. She said: "This contribution will significantly support our team of dedicated volunteers as we continue to redistribute good quality food within our community, significantly reducing food waste."

The concert was just one of the many stops on the Choir's 'Sound of Musicals' tour, which has seen them entertain audiences in several bustling and vibrant towns and villages around Harrogate.

Andrew Forsyth shared the Choir's mission saying: "This year was about raising funds for local charities that were meaningful to the communities in which we performed. We're thrilled that the tour has been a great success in achieving this and bringing our music to a wider audience."

The donation to the Community Larder marks a significant milestone for Harrogate Theatre Choir, as it has raised around £1000 for local charities in this year alone.
