Climate Action Addingham (CAA) is holding its third annual review “How Green is our Village 2024?” on Saturday, November 9th at 2 pm to 6pm in the Memorial Hall.
It will include displays and talks from the village’s community groups showcasing their activities during the year in tackling climate change and biodiversity loss under the themes of carbon and energy, wildlife, waste and water.
Doors open at 2pm for displays, there will be a series of short talks starting at 4.30 pm and a keynote talk at 5.15pm by Mareike Schmidt. The title of her talk is “Addingham 2035: How can we reach our net zero goals individually and as a community?”
Mareike is currently Deputy Challenge Director – Quantum Technologies at Innovate UK. She has worked in a variety of sustainability roles across the public and private sector in the past, including Bristol City Council where she co-ordinated Bristol’s application to become European Green Capital which led to the city winning the title in 2015.
She is also an Addingham resident and an active member of the Environment Group’s Zero Carbon working group.
