A Yeadon based dog trainer has been named as a finalist for a prestigious industry award in the Northern Region 2024 Animal Star awards.

Kerry Ward, founder of The Fairydogmother (Yorkshire) Ltd was listed as a finalist for the title of Dog Trainer/Behaviourist of the year by a panel of judges. There were over 700 nominations for the Animal Star awards for 2024.

Kerry said she was absolutely delighted to have been nominated, and honoured to be announced as a finalist. Kerry, a dog trainer for over 12 years, specialises in fear and reactivity in dogs as well as anxiety issues. She is also an expert puppy trainer and loves working with families to build a good, lasting relationship with their new puppy. Kerry said: “Having a dog should be the most wonderful experience and bring years of joy and love and I am here to prevent or resolve problems to help make that happen for people.”

There are only ten dog trainer/behaviourist finalists in the category from the whole of the North of England. Kerry is the only Yorkshire Dog Trainer & Behaviourist to reach finalist stage this year.

The awards were founded by Mary Burgess in 2016 and set up to give recognition to humans and animals alike for the extraordinary things they do for one another.

The Southern Region finals took place in May 2024, and winners for the northern region will be announced at awards night in Nottingham on November 9, 2024.
