Ilkley Town Council has announced a new edition to its annual Christmas light switch event on Saturday, November 23.
This year, Father Christmas will lead a lantern parade along The Grove accompanied by a live band before switching on the lights and settling into his grotto.
Local schools have been approached to host funded lantern workshops for pupils and a public community workshop facilitated by Cecil Green Arts will be held on Saturday, November 2 at the Clarke Foley Centre from 11am to 3pm.
Numbers are limited so registration for the workshop is required. You can book by scanning the QR code on the poster or through the town council website www.ilkleytowncouncil.gov.uk/council_events/.
Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout and glue and art materials will be used so dress appropriately.
The workshop is suitable for ages eight years and upwards.
All families are welcome to join the parade at the light switch event.
A small number of lanterns will be available on the day, but you are encouraged to make or bring along your own where possible.
