REFUGEE families living in Bradford will be able to brave the winter weather in decent footwear this year thanks to the kindness of Ilkley and district people who have donated an amazing amount of trainers.
On Saturday, October 5 Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary Club, in a joint venture with Ilkley and District u3a Craft Group, collected donated items for local charities, including the trainers.
The trainers have been taken to the storage facility of Bradford Immigration and Asylum Support & Advice Network (BIASAN) ready for distribution.
BIASAN is manned entirely by volunteers and for 25 years has been helping families start a life away from war torn countries where their lives were at risk and establish a safe place to live and work in Yorkshire.
The trainers were gratefully received by volunteer managers Paola and Bridget who wished to thank everyone who participated in the collection for their generosity and for thinking of others.
