A LAUNCH event has been held ahead of the Ilkley Flower Show - a well established event in the Ilkley calendar which hasn't happened since the Covid lockdown.
It is the ambition of the existing organising committee to re-establish the show with the aim it will take place in September 2025.
Chairman of the organising committee Anne Hawkesworth greeted an enthusiastic group of volunteers who came along to the Moss and Moor centre in Ilkley on September 25 in a response for helpers.
Nigel Eaton, from Moss and Moor, who is Show Secretary and Events Director, spoke of requirements needed, whilst Brian Mann, the Treasurer, outlined the fiscal situation.
Valuable pointers were given regarding sponsorship and organisation and the evening closed on an optimistic note but much requires to be decided. A future meeting will be held in November to which anyone interested in joining the team will be welcome. The Chairman thanking everyone for attending inviting everyone to a further meetings.
Anne Hawkesworth said: "I am particularly delighted the way the judges are falling into place. One of the first to agree was Francis Atkins, formerly of the Yorke Arms. Francis is a local girl and former IGS pupil. She will be judging the Bakery section. She appears on Bake off and other Master Chef programmes."
