Three boys from Addingham Primary School climbed Yorkshire’s Three Peaks in one day to raise over £2,000.
The Year 5 students at Addingham - Jamie, Larry and Louis – completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday, September 7, walking 24 miles up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent to raise funds for their school.
On the boy’s GoFundMe page, they explained: “We have been learning all about mountains in class, and it’s inspired us to attempt the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise money for school.
“We would like to raise enough money to buy some new books on mountains for the class, and hopefully a class iPad to help with our learning.”
Linda Spinks, headteacher at Addingham Primary School, said: “All of the staff and the Addingham Primary School community are so proud of each of them for their dedication to training for the walk and for their determination to complete it.
“They decided to raise money for our school and have so far raised an incredible £2,055.
“The boys have asked us to spend the money raised on computing equipment which we are delighted about.
“We will meet with the boys to decide what will create the biggest and most positive impact for our school.
“They are truly inspirational children and have proudly demonstrated all three of our school values: Kindness, perseverance and global mindedness.”
