MEMBERS of the Washburn Heritage Centre recently enjoyed a stunning walk from the centre.

The walk encompassed the three halls of Swinsty, Folly Hall and Scow Hall. and was a follow up to a talk by Kevin Illingworth on the traditional buildings in and around the Washburn Valley.

A spokesperson said: "We were informed about the fascinating histories of the Halls, including some famous inhabitants. There are more than 120 listed buildings in the area. The route followed the footpath around Swinsty Reservoir before branching off into some beautiful countryside with far reaching views across the Valley. It included a challenging climb for the walkers, before joining the reservoir path again for a gentle stroll back to the centre and a very delicious two course home-cooked lunch. Along the way we came across the strange sign shown in the photo. If any readers can explain the provenance and meaning of this sign, please let us know at the Heritage Centre.
