ILKLEY-based interior design studio, AMC Design, has been shortlisted as a finalist at an internationally recognised awards programme celebrating design excellence across a broad range of interior sectors.

AMC Design’s ‘North House’ project has been shortlisted for the ‘best house with a budget under £1million’ at this year’s SBID International Design Awards.

Evaluated by a panel of distinguished, industry-leading experts for design functionality, innovation, creativity, and technical execution, an SBID Award is considered one of the most coveted accolades for design excellence. Success in this GOLD-rated Awards programme demonstrates the highest level of design skill and professional mastery across the interior design profession.

The North House project is a stunning, extended Victorian property. Though the traditional exterior remained intact, a prior owner had removed most of the period features inside. AMC set to work on bringing 21st century splendour to this historically confused home. The client has three teenagers, two of whom have additional needs, including autism and the project was a collaborative process ensuring each individual's needs were made a priority while allowing their personalities to shine. The house has been transformed into a haven of colour, elegance, and calm.

AMC Design worked closely with local suppliers, commissioned mural artists, and enlisted the help of bespoke upholsterer, Emma Patchett. AMC also linked up with beautiful lighting designers, Pooky who supplied several of the shades and lamp fittings which feature in the home.

AMC Design, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary, was founded by Ann Marie Cousins in 2014 with a goal to take dream homes from an idea to reality. Focusing primarily on residential projects, the team specialise in mixing colour, pattern, and texture with effective use of space to transform homes and encourage clients to be brave with their creative choices.

Owner of AMC Design, Ann Marie Cousins, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised by the SBID International Design Awards especially as this puts Yorkshire based interior design on an international stage.

“It was a delight to work on the North House project and as a team we worked with our clients to take a dark and damp house into a sociable home that works for the entire family, while accommodating their children’s additional needs. The heart line that ran through the project was a love of rich colours and so throughout the property, we used colour to materially impact each space which makes it really stand out amongst the finalists. We would like to thank the judges for their time and commitment to our industry and we look forward to the winner's announcement later in the year.”

To complete the final stage of judging, the public are now invited to vote for their favourite finalist designs - accounting for an 10% of the overall results.
