THE Ilkley and District Round Table has made charitable donations totalling £28,349 to support various local and national causes.
These funds were raised through the successful Ilkley Half Marathon, held with the help of the community’s commitment and participation.
The grants have been distributed as follows:
- Anthony Nolan: £1,000 to support their national stem cell register, the chosen National Round Table charity this year.
- Ilkley Good Neighbours: £4,749 to fund Christmas hampers, Christmas lunch, and a trip to the panto for the elderly in our community.
- Burley-in-Wharfedale Community Trust: £10,000 towards the creation of a pump track in Burley.
- Principle Trust: £5,000 towards a new holiday home in Filey to provide breaks for vulnerable young people and their families.
- Ben Rhydding Sports Club: £2,600 to provide sports equipment for the hockey pitches.
- Ilkley Community Transport: £5,000 towards the cost of replacing one of their community transport buses.
Andy Rhodes, Ilkley and District Round Table chairman said the donations reflected their commitment to making a difference in the local community and beyond.
He added: “We would like to thank the 2,600 runners who signed up for the Half Marathon, the spectators who supported despite the rain, and the entire community whose efforts made this event possible.
“This year the half marathon has raised a record-breaking £54,000, every penny of which will be used to support good causes that have a direct impact in our community.”
