SHAUN Ryder is coming to Ilkley as part of a promotional tour for his new book.
The former Happy Mondays frontman, whose book Happy Mondays, And Fridays, And Saturdays, And Sundays was published in May, will be spilling the beans on his colourful life at Ilkley’s King’s Hall on September 20.
Asked in an interview for the Ilkley Gazette what, as a born-and-bred Salfordian, his opinions on Yorkshire are in advance of stopping in the town, Ryder was approving and confessed he might like to retire among the scenery of Holmfirth in the spirit of Last of the Summer Wine.
Ryder was the frontman of the Happy Mondays and currently fronts rock outfit Black Grape.
He is also known for appearances on Celebrity Gogglebox and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
His new book, each copy of which is boxed, signed, and numbered as part of a limited edition, sees Ryder impart wisdom on the likes of “battery-operated chickens, Russell Watson, drugs, and Happy Mondays,” according to A Way With Media’s blurb.
