OVER 200 came through the doors of Clarke Foley on Saturday, June 15 to see what Ilkley and District u3a has to offer.

Groups in attendance ranged from railways to art appreciation, singing to walking cricket and more.

A spokesperson said: "One of the more unusual groups featured is devoted to singing sea shanties. The group first set sail in January 2024, inspired by the Hayling Island u3a shanty group. Who knew shanty singing in landlocked Ilkley would be so popular with 30 members meeting fortnightly in the Baptist Church Hall in Kings Road, Ilkley. The group have now progressed to giving performances to the public. Next up is the Ilkley Live on Saturday 13th July.

"With a local membership of over 2,000, this vibrant volunteer led organisation offers opportunities for those no longer working full time work to share their interests with others of a similar age and outlook on life."
