A NEW performing arts school - Seasons - is opening in Otley in September on Saturday mornings, with two summer schools in August.

All students will study singing, dancing and acting.

Sessions will take place in what is currently Otley Methodist Church on Boroughgate on Saturday mornings from 9.30am to 1.15pm. There will be three groups organised by age who will take part in a whole school ensemble warm-up, followed by three specialist classes of 50 minutes each in singing, dancing and acting. The morning will end with parents being invited to watch a mini showcase of work created in the classes.

Owner and Principal of Seasons, Beckie Voller, who lives in the town said: “Having taught in high schools since 1998 and built up the Performing Arts faculties from scratch in two schools into award winning, flourishing places where students can shine, I am so excited to be starting Seasons. It is such an honour to see ex students touring professionally in productions such as Dirty Dancing, Book of Mormon, Les Misérables, Strictly Ballroom, Circe and many, many more. Locally, I have performed in several productions with Otley Players and most recently directed their sold out showing of Hi-de-Hi. I am so excited to see the potential Seasons has to offer a new generation of young people who we look forward to taking in as small spring saplings and watch them develop and blossom throughout the year with confidence – making memories and forging friendships!”
