OTLEY Cycle Club's ever popular Friday evening cycle coaching for summer 2024 is returning to Prince Henry's Wharfe Meadows site in June.
These sessions are aimed at primary-aged children between year 1 and year 6 (Key Stage 1 – ages 5 -7 and Key Stage 2 – ages 7-11 ) and aims to improve confidence and skills when riding a bike in a safe and fun environment.
The coaching sessions (max 30 places) will run as a block of six sessions on Friday evenings 6.30pm to 7.30pm from Friday, June 14th to July 19th.
British Cycling qualified coach, Carol Armitstead, said: “We aim to foster a love of cycling through fun and exciting activities under careful supervision. All riders need to be able to ride their bikes independently (i.e. without stabilisers) before attending the sessions.
"Children must wear a helmet at all times and bring their own bikes. Our coaches will give them a once-over before the session to ensure that they are safe to ride. We also ask that parents should remain at the school during the session.
"At the end of each session there will be a short presentation session where our coveted "rider of the week" awards will be handed out!”
The cost of this will be £38 and this includes one year's family membership of Otley Cycle Club. To book the block of six sessions email otleycycleclub@gmail.com with the full names and ages of the children that you want to attend the coaching together with your own contact details and you will be sent a confirmation email.
