Ilkley Film Society's next screening is the prize-winning Korean romantic thriller Decision To Leave on Sunday 12th May (8pm, Ilkley Playhouse).
This is a change from the published programme as the film originally scheduled, Confessions (also Korean), is not available for screening in the UK.
Arriving at a murder scene, detective Hae-joon begins to suspect that the victim's wife Seo-rae knows far more about the killing than she admits. As Hae-joon's investigation deepens, so does his involvement with Seo-rae, until he finds himself trapped in a web of deception.
Top director Park Chan-wook is best known in this country for his “revenge trilogy” - Sympathy For Mr Vengeance, Oldboy and Lady Vengeance – and for The Handmaiden, shown by the Film Society in 2017. Decision To Leave won him the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Guests are welcome, as always (tickets £5), but should phone Dave Howell on 01943 430097 or email using the Film Society website to ensure admission.
With just one further screening to come in the current season, non-members interested in joining for the 2024-25 season which begins in September should visit the website at www.ilkleyfilmsociety.org.uk and leave their contact details.
