OTLEY resident Penny Redwood is planning to walk, run, swim or push 95km between now and March 8 to raise money for the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians.
Penny is taking part in Stride for Gaza, a virtual challenge organised by the charity, which will see participants showing solidarity with the people of Gaza by walking, running, jogging or pushing through 95km to raise funds for lifesaving medical aid, equipment and other vital supplies. 95km is the distance between Gaza City and occupied East Jerusalem. This is a route prohibited to most Palestinians.
All money raised will go towards the charity's Gaza emergency response.
When Penny, a new grandmother, heard about the appeal she volunteered immediately.
She said: "I felt I had to do something constructive to support the people of Gaza in their unbearable suffering so I decided to take up the Stride for Gaza challenge. I will be monitoring my progress on a virtual map which my supporters will be able to follow. Please donate now to help me reach my target."
